Netxar is awarded the worldwide WAN and security implementation and consolidation of EMC and Data General

EMC^2 Corporation acquisition of Data General created the task of consolidating all Major Campuses in the USA and Europe and all the sales and technical offices around the globe.  Netxar Technologies was responsible to Design, Implement and manage the new Data Network including the MAN, LAN and the Global WAN.  Netxar was also responsible for the new Information Security and Internet architecture and implementation.  The final implementation supported more than 30,000 users around the world.  Project initiated in the middle 2000 and completed by early 2001.

The Data Network includes 13 major campuses in an ATM MAN using Catalyst 8500s.  Data, Voice and Circuit Emulation was being delivered on the infrastructure. The Campuses LAN consisted of around 20 Catalyst 6500 and more than 200 Catalyst 4006 and many other Catalyst models.  Network was segmented with approximately 20+ VLANs per building on 10+ buildings infrastructure. The Global WAN consisted of round 500 sites using Frame Relay, ATM/IMA, Dedicated DS1/DS3 using Cisco 7200, 3600 and 2600 routers.  ISDN PRI was used as the backup.  The USA WAN was built on MPLS and BGP services. The Security Architecture consisted of Check Point Firewalls running on Nokia IP440 and IP330, IDS from ISS running on a Sun Solaris Platform.  The NOC/SOC was implemented to monitor all the network and security components.  HP OpenView, Concord, and other products were used for the proactive monitoring and reporting. Training was provided to all technical staff and NOC/SOC operators to handle the day 2 day operations.
